The Challenge

Newhall Square sits within the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter, with the site opposite the former Assay Office. Integrating three refurbished historic buildings, a new courtyard, and a large public square.

Newhall Square creates 220 apartments and townhouses a minute’s walk from Birmingham’s transport links and commercial district. The brief was to create an exciting and vibrant place to live and work, fostering a sense of community.

The Solution

Interconnected design and adding value were at the centre of our decision-making. By integrating the building fabric, MEP systems and acoustic noise control, we were able to optimise the insulation, window openings and ventilation design. Reducing energy consumption by minimising heat loss, improving natural lighting, and enhancing the overall heating and ventilation efficiency.

Our harmonised approach minimised redundancy and unnecessary complexity, generating significant cost savings for the client.

I’m extremely proud of what IM Properties’ in-house project delivery team has delivered in partnership with a trusted and highly skilled team of professionals and contractors, whose dedication and commitment at all times was unwavering whilst creating this exceptional scheme.
